13 patients once treated at “magical garden” die Reply with quote
All thirteen people who had fatal illnesses that were supposedly cured by a superstitious woman at an “odd garden” in Long An Province have actually died of their diseases.

Although authorities, police, and scientists have repeatedly advised the public not to believe in the treatment provided by Hong, a woman who is superstitious and has never trained in medicine, many of Hong’s patients have recently spread a rumor that the woman helped 13 people get rid of their fatal diseases.

After learning of the rumor, concerned agencies surprisingly discovered that the 13 people had actually died.

Among them were Nguyen Thi Sanh, a woman in Duc Hoa District, Long An Province, who had suffered from serious ulcers.

Another patient was Phan Thi Ut, who contracted diabetes that led to a cerebrovascular accident. Many people said Ut had been saved by Hong, but in fact she has died since receiving treatment.
One more patient was Nguyen Thi Nga, of Dong Thap province’s Tam Nong District, who sought Hong’s treatment for her cancer but died in a rented room near Hong’s garden soon after being treated.

Tran Minh Hung, deputy chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, told Tuoi Tre that authorities have confirmed with local residents that there is no special treatment that can be provided from the garden or from Hong, as rumored.
Superstitious trick

Meanwhile the garden, which is simply a normal one, was rumored seven years ago to be a “magical garden” that could rid people of diseases.
The garden once received 400 visitors per day from different areas including HCMC, Long An, Tien Giang, Vinh Long, Bac Lieu, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, and Hanoi.

The gatherings have caused problems for security and order in the area, since many people have taken advantage of the opportunity to offer transport services, set up eateries and rent houses to earn money, local authorities said.
The visitors would drink water that they believed was able to treat diseases from a well in the garden.

Many people said that the garden had a mysterious power that helped them recover from illnesses, even by simply walking around the garden. Concerned agencies launched surveys of the garden and later affirmed that it was just like any other garden.
Hong asked her patients to say their prayers at the garden to recover from their illnesses, without having to use any medicine.

Meanwhile, Hong had been arrested in June 2003 and was later sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by the Long An Province People’s Court for superstitious practices.
After serving her sentence, she falsely claimed that her body had the ability of self-illumination, a belief that was spread by many people.Travel to Vietnam
