The Vietnam High Equality Education for All report was released this morning aimed at providing deeper analysis into the performance of domestic primary and secondary schooling during 1992-2008.
The report is the result of collaboration between the World Bank, the United Kingdom's Department of International Development and the Belgium Development Co-operation.
Le Tien Thanh, head of the Ministry of Education and Training's Primary Education Department, said, "The report has drawn a comprehensive image of both achievements and challenges in primary education during the period."
Accordingly, the education sector needs to afford Vietnamese students the chance to access education and improve its quality in the coming time, he said.
The report shows that Vietnam has made impressive achievements in improving education quality in a short period. The literacy and school attendance rates are quite high compared to other countries in the region.
The report revealed that closing the gap in accessing education among different population groups is one of challenges the domestic sector has to face.
To overcome such challenges, Vietnam should prioritise providing a fund for the education sector and improve methods of teaching as well as school management, said Emanuela di Gropello, lead author of the report.Travel to Vietnam
